commandos

Description from MyAbandonware A poor conversion of Data East arcade game of the same name. There are many things wrong with Commando that make the game much inferior to the arcade original. For starter, the control is very limited: you can only shoot in 4 major cardinal directions, meaning that you need to run around in circles and time your shots to shoot diagonally. Levels are repetitive to the extreme, and all you do is run around and try to fend off an entire army by shooting and throwing grenades, which were just flashing white squares that are difficult to see. About the only thing Quicksilver did right with this game is that it is a lot of fun to find secret entrances to new area. But then again, THAT is in the original arcade game. Overall, a sub-par conversion that could have been much, much better. The poor CGA graphics doesn't help, either (and there are already many other games during that period that utilized CGA more effectively, e.g. Tau Ceti and Alley Cat).

Commodore Amiga Bridgeboard Janus Software 2.1

These are the supporting software files in amiga format to get the PC bridgeboards working. The PC side will need to be extracted on the amiga and then copied to a dos disk. These are the original files that I found. Tested with a A2286 (80286) system in an amiga A2000HD

Commodore Amiga Bridgeboard Janus Software 2.1 in standard image 2.1

I had uploaded at an earlier date, the janus files I had found for the commodore amiga bridgeboards. The DOS side was in an amiga file format, this file corrects that and puts the dos side in a standard ms-dos winimage format. The included amiga software has also been converted to a modern amiga image format so that it can be easily used with amiga explorer to create the proper disk. This should work with all commodore bridgeboards. It has been verified with an amiga 2000HD with the A2286 board. Thanks!

This is a (meanwhile) *rare* version of MS-DOS 3.31 for a Compaq PC, ca 1988. The disk images was made with WinImage but not compressed, so it's possible to write the .IMA files also with RAWRITE or similar. It's the german language version. Btw. it was the first MS-DOS version for larger harddisks than 32MB, much earlier than a publication from Microsoft or IBM (that was done with DOS 4.0).

C 4 1.44Mb Diskette Set DISK1=FASTART.144 DISK2=SYSTEM.144 DISK3=OPERATE1.144 DISK4=OPERATE2.144 These disk images were created from FreeDOS using the FreeDOS DISKCOPY.EXE DOS command. To write to disks, you must be in a DOS booted system and use the DISKCOPY command. Make sure you have 4 blank formatted 1.44Mb diskettes. SYNTAX: DISKCOPY FASTART.144 A: These images are also compatible with the DOS DCF5.3 (DiskCopyFast 5.3) program which is available for download on this site. My philosophy for sharing is this: DOS archives should be accessible in either traditional DOS, FreeDOS or at worst, in Windows 3.1. I prefer to work in real DOS mode not virtual, and I detest loading an XP disk in VirtualBox to extract a DOS archive.

This archive contains 3 .VFD files for easy use under Virtual Box or VMWare. The original archive I found online had the files in an odd format. I'm including that original archive with this distribution just for the sake of preservation, but you'll find that the .VFD files are much easier to work with. Be sure to read the short ReadMe.txt I included in the archive. The great thing about this somewhat rare version of PC-DOS is that it uses FAT-16 instead of FAT-12. So whereas IBM PC-DOS 3.30 has a 32MB partition limit, this version has a 512 MB limit, making it quite a bit more useful.

Conflict Europe

This a sequel to Theater Europe, or an update of sorts your task is again to play World War 3 scenarios fighting as NATO vs the Warsaw Pact. While you can access some menus as the bottom of the screen you can see the map on the main part of the screen where each unit is indicated as small square. Your aim, of course, is to eliminate all the enemy units. Some special actions can be selected, like deploying special units, attack with chemical weapons or even nuclear ones.
